My first pastel was the painting The Drum, a copy of an original from the artist Jia Liu. I was at dentist cabinet waiting for being torture when I saw the picture of this painting while browsing an art magazine. I immediately felt in love and needed to try to reproduce it.

It was during the beginning of my art training in Maryland, where I approached my teacher and said, "if I can reproduce this painting I feel I will be able to paint anything". This was an eye opening moment for me. The rest is told in this web site. Napoleon came next, which was a mind boggling but it shaped my artistic mind and established the basis for the artist in me.
