The Shell (32" x 40") is my first oil painting, ever. It was very hard to grasp painting in oil. I spent so long hours doing and un-doing sections, get the color right, which meant what makes a color lighter or darker. It was not by adding white to make it ligther and adding black to make it darker, one might think. Forget about trying to get the likeness on top of that.
Anyway, that time is over, at least for spending so long hours just trying to get proportion and gesture right. I still struggle with colors but not like this one.
